King Edward's School, Bath

Fundraising Campaign for KES Bath

01 | Project Overview

Honouring Heritage. Funding Their Future.

Founded in 1552, King Edward's School Bath has a long-standing commitment to widening access to education. With more than £1.3 million already supporting over 100 pupils through means-tested bursaries, the school wanted to build on this legacy and create a sustainable foundation that would transform even more young lives for generations to come.

The ambition was significant: to raise £2 million by 2030 and secure ongoing annual funding to expand bursary provision. To achieve this, the school needed a compelling campaign capable of inspiring alumni, parents and the wider community to support its vision.

The Challenge

While bursaries have always been part of the school's DNA, many potential supporters were unaware of the scale of assistance already being provided or the impact those opportunities were having on pupils and families.

The challenge was to create a distinct fundraising identity that felt connected to the wider KES Bath brand, while giving the Foundation its own voice, personality and purpose. The campaign needed to honour the school's heritage, tell powerful human stories and clearly communicate why support was needed now.

02 | The Straetgy

Creating a Campaign Rooted in Purpose.

Through stakeholder interviews and strategic discovery, we uncovered a powerful narrative that linked the school's history with its future ambitions. This insight became the foundation of the campaign, leading to the creation of The 1552 Foundation, named in recognition of the school's founding year and its centuries-long commitment to educational opportunity.

We developed the campaign messaging platform around the proposition "Transforming Lives Through Education", supported by the line "Honouring Our Heritage. Funding Their Future." Together, these messages connected the school's legacy with the life-changing impact of bursary support in a way that resonated with donors.

Alongside the messaging strategy, we created a dedicated visual identity for the Foundation, carefully designed to complement the KES Bath brand while establishing its own presence. The campaign was brought to life through a professionally designed Case for Support document, storytelling centred on former bursary recipients and a campaign film featuring alumni whose lives had been transformed through access to a KES education.

03 | The Result

Launching a Platform for Lasting Impact.

The result was a compelling fundraising brand that gave KES Bath a clear and consistent platform for donor engagement. The Foundation now has a strong identity that works across print, digital and in-person fundraising activity, helping supporters understand both the need and the opportunity.

Most importantly, the campaign transformed awareness around bursary provision, celebrating real stories and demonstrating the tangible difference donations can make. By placing impact at the heart of the narrative, the campaign created an emotional connection between the school's heritage and its future beneficiaries.

The campaign launched successfully, with £600,000 already secured through pledges and donations and £185,000 directly supporting pupils in its first year. More than a fundraising initiative, The 1552 Foundation provides a long-term platform to help ensure that talented young people can access a KES education regardless of financial circumstance.
